Friday’s community walk through downtown Melbourne packs so many things into two miles.
Meet and spend time with Melbourne Mayor Kathy Meehan and FLORIDA TODAY executive editor Bob Gabordi.
Log exercise time for your city, Melbourne or otherwise, in the Health First Mayor’s Fitness Challenge.
Check out the murals throughout downtown and get the chance to win a FitBit.
Enjoy craft beer from Hell ‘n Blazes Brewing Co. and tasty bites from Ole Fire Grill.
The walk starts at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 27, at the Melbourne Regional Chamber office, 1005 E. Strawbridge Ave. Follow the two-mile course through the streets of downtown Melbourne, stopping along the way to snap selfies in front of some of the murals.
The walk ends with beer and food at Hell ‘n Blazes, next door to the chamber office.
“We are thrilled to welcome the community to downtown Melbourne for this walk and have the opportunity to showcase the revitalization efforts taking place here,” said Jarin Eisenberg, executive director of Melbourne Main Street. “Our goal is to continue to foster an environment that invites the community in and allows them to engage with the cultural and economic hub of the community they live in. This walk is a perfect way to do that.”
Participants can pick up a Health First flash light at the start of the walk, while supplies last.
“This should be a fun event and a beautiful night in our amazing downtown,” said Gabordi. “The forecast calls for nice not-too-warm weather, perfect for walking and hanging out downtown.”
Free parking is available in the city lot across from Hell ‘n Blazes and in the parking garage on Strawbridge Avenue.
