Restaurants across Brevard plan special meals to celebrate Mother’s Day (Florida Today)
It’s almost “Mother’s Day,” or should it be “Mothers’ Day”?
Either way, Brevard dining institutions have special menus in store for mom and the family on May 12, and that includes Florida Institute of Technology’s Panther Dining Hall, which will host the fourth annual Mother’s Day Brunch Around the World from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The ambitious menu will include specialties from Lebanon, Spain, Mexico, China, Ethiopia, Jamaica, the Caribbean, Nigeria and India, as well as the all-American likes of carved prime rib, scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy, oatmeal, pancakes and omelets.
As for that sweet tooth, desserts will include brigadeiro (Brazilian bonbon), tres leches, baklava, cannoli, petit fours, fruit pies, cream pies, cakes and cookies.
Panther Dining Hall, 3113 Panther Place, is just south of the Clemente Center on the Florida Tech campus in Melbourne. Visitor parking is free on the first floor of the parking garage behind the dining hall.

Alfredo’s Paradiso, 217 Crockett Blvd., Merritt Island, will offer a full menu plus specials with seatings at 2:30, 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Beachside Seafood, 1220 N. State Road A1A, Indialantic, will offer free mimosas to mothers who come for Sunday lunch or dinner plus special dinners (king crab legs, shrimp, lobster). Call 321-372-7000.
Chef Larry’s, 1111. S. Washington Ave., Titusville, will offer a Mother’s Day brunch menu from noon to 2:30 p.m. that will include soup, salad, filet of beef on fettuccine, grilled lamb chops, duck breast and crab-crusted shrimp. Crowne Plaza Melbourne Oceanfront, 2605 N. State Road A1A, Indialantic, will serve brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with carving stations, soup, shrimp, dessert table, etc. Costs are $39.95 per adult, $32.95 per senior and $16.95 for children ages 4 to 10. For reservations, call 321-775-0012.

Dove III, 836 E. New Haven Ave., Melbourne, will be serving lunch and dinner with first seating at 1 p.m. and last seating at 6 p.m. Call 321-775-3683 for reservations.
Heidelberg, 7 N. Orlando Ave., Cocoa Beach, will offer a special dinner beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday that will include a Four- Season salad, veal rahm schnitzel and Malakow torte for $40. Luna Food & Wine, 9 S. Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach, will offer a Mother’s Day brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, with the likes of savory donuts, shrimp tacos, hanger steak, seafood Benedict and seafood misticanza on the menu. Call 321-613-5796.
Matt’s Casbah, 801 E. New Haven Ave., Melbourne, will bring back its massive, multi-room brunch — meaning everything from sushi to chocolate fountains — with seatings at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Call 321-574-1099.
Merritt Island Pancake House, 950 N. Courtenay Parkway, will not serve lunch on Mother’s Day, but will offer special entrees such as brisket, turkey and ham, as well as its traditional breakfast menu. Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Call 321-501-5996.
Mulberry Lane Café, 3440 N. Harbor City Blvd., Melbourne, will offer creative Mother’s Day specials, to be determined, from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Call 321-426-7149.
Murdock’s Southern Bistro, 600 Brevard Ave., Cocoa, will start Mother’s Day festivities Saturday evening, when Hot Pink plays a “Mom’s Night Out” show from 8 p.m. to midnight, with all sorts of special throw-ins.
